First Educators meetings provide parents with the information, support and encouragement needed to help their child develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. Each module includes interactive activities, story-time, and multimedia materials.
The Parents as First Educators philosophy is that every child arrives in life ready to learn, and that every parent is capable of helping them to achieve their full potential.
The First Educators activities are oriented around the five domains of child development found in the Early Development Instrument (EDI):
• Motor skills, nutrition, energy level, independence, and overall physical development
• Social skills, accepting responsibility, following routines, respecting adults and fellow classmates, and self-confidence
• Aggression level, attention span, self-control, ability to focus
• Reading and math abilities, interest in learning, ability to attach sounds to letters, shape recognition
• Communication skills, storytelling abilities, articulation of complex concepts, understanding and being understood
All First Educators activities strategically focus on one or more of these domains, helping children take strides in critical areas of their growth.
