What Works and Why?

OPEN’s What Works and Why Program examines what is working in schools in New Orleans. The program examines student achievement data and school practices as observed during site visits to successful schools in the city. A communitywide meeting brings together parents and practitioners to share and discuss how these practices can inform and strengthen schools citywide.

In 2010, the What Works and Why program examined best practices among elementary schools. Four schools were highlighted – Mary Bethune Elementary, Robert Russa Moton Charter School, Mary Coghill Elementary School, and Lafayette Elementary.
