To equitably capture diverse voices during the project, trained facilitators recorded the responses of over 600 New Orleanians to questions about quality public education and other issues. Participants included parents, students, teachers, district/state administrators, charter school advocates, and community members. Their answers reflect many diverse perspectives and identify a number of themes affecting quality public education in New Orleans, such as community relationships, school governance, school accountability, and access.
The pilot summary report for the participatory research project collected responses from 99 participants organized in small focus groups. This short preliminary report provided a framework for the larger participatory research project.
