The Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) prepares high-potential professionals for leadership positions in education and related policy fields.

Louisiana’s first Education Policy Fellowship Program cohort has covered topics like Building Viable Governance Models, The Future of Test-Based Accountability, and Inside the Louisiana State Budget, with prestigious speakers like:

  • Ann Duplessis, President, Louisiana Federation for Children
  • Barry Erwin, President, Council for a Better Louisiana
  • Paul Pastorek, former State Superintendent of Louisiana
  • Jan Moller, Director, Louisiana Budget Project
  • Maurice “Moon” Landrieu, former Mayor, City of New Orleans
  • Scott Richard, Executive Director, Louisiana School Boards Association
  • Dr. James A. Richardson, Director of the Public Administration Institute, Louisiana State University
  • Dr. Andre Perry, education advocate and consultant

EPFP is Louisiana’s only professional development program for emerging leaders seeking to improve outcomes for children and youth through sound public policy. In 2015, Louisiana joined the ranks of 14 other states across the US in welcoming EPFP to our community.

Fellows remain in their full-time positions and use their work environment as the context for examining important leadership and policy issues in their state and in the nation. EPFP activities are directed by on-site Coordinators.

Through EPFP’s Continuing Education Units (CEUs), states develop an extensive network of professionals capable of sustaining and acting on a coherent policy dialogue around significant issues in education. Organizations build the human capital and professional networks to enable them to compete effectively in a strategic environment, and individuals develop their leadership potential, knowledge of the policy process, and ability to add value to their organizations at a strategic level.

Since its inception in 1964, EPFP has produced nearly 8,000 alumni who now lead at high levels in all sectors of American life, within and outside education.
